Monday Morning 8-17-2009

Monday Morning Meeting

Today we went over the coming events for the Gerold and Weyauwega Arts Organization. First on the list was repairs: We are working on refurbishing the balcony at the Gerold. To date we have taken down the wall and opened it up to the way it was in the hay day of the theater. Right now the stairs in the auditorium that lead up to the balcony need a bit of repair and there is some missing stair railing segments. Ian and crew are working on it so we can open the balcony early next season.

Ian has worked hard and we are well on our way to having the Gerold listed on the Wisconsin Historical registry. This will mean we will be eligible for more grants targeted to maintaining the building. A very good thing for us

As a fund raiser, Wega Arts will be serving food at Horse and Buggy days. So far the menu is: Hot beef sandwiches, Brats and hot dogs. Look for us by the beer tent.

This has been a busy year behind the scenes for us. To all of you who came and saw the River Cities Jazz Band, thanks. I know you had a great time because I saw you dancing. It was a magical evening.

We have received a grant for 5 art shows. It has been announced in the papers and we are very excited. The first of the shows is at the Gerold now through the end of August, stop by and see it if you get a chance.

I'm going to keep you updated with the goings on via this blog and our Monday morning meetings.
