Girls Night Out

Girls Night Out at the Gerold included some socializing and the movie "Sex and the City". The gala was to benefit the WEGA ARTS and the TOTO Endowment. The TOTO Endowment supports the elderly and handicapped with the care and feeding of their companion animals. WEGA ARTS is the Community Arts center located in the Gerold Opera House.

Girls Night Out is the brain child of Christine Faulks (TOTO) and Kathy Fehl (WEGA ARTS). They thought it would be fun and it was! When the movie started to roll the audience had lost of fun talking back to the screen.

Ready for the red carpet and their close-up,
two of the party goers have gone "Hollywood". Most of the attendees dressed up for the event. Before the show patrons were treated to Cosmo Wine Coolers, cheese and crackers, grapes, and decadent dark chocolate. What else could a girl want?
The event was a tremendous success with over 100 in attendance. More events of this kind are planned. Watch this blog for more information!

The Art Gallery Nears Completion

The gallery has a marvelous authentic tin ceiling in great shape. Just a little paint and on to the floors

While Ian pull the carpet staples out of the floor

Jason sands the floors. They are in great shape! This is the first time they will have been refinished - WOW! Well worth all the work. Great news, The art has arrived and we are in the process of getting it ready to hang. Don't forget to stop by and see it.

Art Gallery renovation nears completion

Ian and Rob survey the space. It used to be the concession stand for the theater. The plaster is good but cracked and the tin ceiling needs to be painted. The carpet on the floor will be removed and the floor sanded before the opening. Lots of work to be done here. In the second picture you can see the improvement - the walls are all the same color and the repair of the antique metal ceiling has begun. Next the floors and then hang the paintings

Girls night Out!

It's a fundraiser but it's also a good time for the girls! August 20th will be Girls Night Out at the Gerold Opera House. The girls favorite cocktail will be served along with some munchies before the show. What movie? Sex and the City - of course! This event is the brain child of the TOTO Endowment. TOTO provides support for the elderly and disabled who have companion pets in the form of paying vet bills and purchasing food. It's a good cause. I'll put pictures up later.

"An Evening of Radio"

Ever want to hear radio stories again? We did, and so when director Amy Kurylo brought the project to us we thought it was a good one. There are approximately 135 shows with surviving scripts from the 30's and 40's. Amy went to http://www.genericradio.com/library.php Generic Radio Workshop to search.

The evening will consist of a live reading of the dramas, keeping as close as possible to the spirit of a reading over the radio. The cast of voice actors is having a wonderful time in rehearsals doing the different rolls using unique voices. This is taking some work to get each of the distinct characters identifiable voices

WEGA ARTS is making a Movie!

It's a documentary about Lake Weyauwega. The lake is in bad shape and needs some help to remove all the weeds that have taken residence there. With the help of Ian Teal some local kids are learning the craft of documentary filming and interviewing. This is a great experience for the kids and it will have a great impact on the community. So far the lake has been tested for e-coli and other bacteria. The tests came back clean showing the health of the lake is good and clean. Next week ariel shots of the lake will be taken to determine the extent of the weed growth.
More on the film later
